Homestay for Students aged 14 -17

The School

SES is located at the heart of the seaside town of Folkestone, only 7 miles from the town of Dover and 16 miles from the city of Canterbury. This well-equipped English language college offers light airy classrooms, recreation rooms and spacious outdoor areas.

Accommodation

SES can arrange accommodation with English speaking host families within comfortable walking distance of the school. In July and August, it may be necessary for you to take a short bus ride. We know how important the family atmosphere is in helping you make the most of your stay in Folkestone. Our full-time Accommodation & Welfare Officer visits every host family on a regular basis and selects homes where we know you will be comfortable, cared for and encouraged to speak English.

Meals

All meals are included. Breakfast and evening meals are shared with the family and a packed lunch is provided to eat at school. Vegetarian and special diets are catered for.

Safety and Welfare

Your safety is our first priority. We have a full-time Accommodation & Welfare? Officer and we operate an emergency telephone line 24 hours a day. Qualified First Aiders will always be present and are legally obliged to follow the SES safety and welfare guidelines. Our host families are rigorously selected and follow our detailed guidelines.

Your Week

In your first week you will either study English in the morning and activities in the afternoon or activities in the morning and English in the afternoon. During your second week you will change which half of the day you study English and have activities. 

The Classes

You will study for 15 hours per week. All classes are designed to develop general English skills for a variety of everyday situations. Maximum class size 10.

The Activities

15 hours of afternoon activities including drama workshops, arts and crafts, football, tennis, swimming etc.

Excursions

1 full-day and 2 half-day excursions per 2 week course

2 full-day and 3 half day excursions per 3 week course

3 full-day and 4 half day excursions per 4 week course

Excursions may include visits to London, Cambridge, Thorpe Park, Dover Castle,

Canterbury and Ashford Designer Outlet .

The Evenings (4 times per week)

A complete evening social programme including discos, themed parties, quiz nights, barbecues and international nights.

All courses run for a minimum of 2 weeks and begin on a Monday. The cost is inclusive of all tuition, accommodation, meals, activities and transfers to and from Heathrow or Gatwick airport subject to the following: on arrival day, the flight arrival must be between 10:00 and 17:00 and on departure day, the flight departure must be between 12:00 and 19:00. Transfers can be arranged outside these hours at a cost of £100 each way.
