Caring for Young Learners (age 14-17)
At SES, welfare is our top priority for Young Learners. We appreciate how important it is for our students to feel safe and relaxed in order to focus on their studies. We are able to deliver the best possible care through careful selection of homestays and staff, good organisation, constant supervision and swift attention to any problems, however small.
Our staff
Henry House, our training centre, has a Centre Manager who is responsible for all aspects of the programme, from academic content to entertainment and welfare. Our courses have an excellent staff to student ratio as standard, and students are supervised throughout classes and activities to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
Our teachers are chosen for their experience, ability and enthusiasm and deliver English language education which is challenging in its content, inspiring in its delivery and empowering in its study approach. Our activity leaders run the leisure programme after classes each day and are young and energetic. Above all, our staff like young people and enjoy working with them.
Medical treatment and emergencies
Students who are nationals of an EU country can receive free emergency treatment on the National Health Service. In the event of an emergency, if we cannot contact a child’s parents, the Principal will make whatever decision is necessary for the child’s wellbeing. Any expenses incurred in this way are payable by the student’s parents.
Supervision
On all outings, students are escorted by our activity leaders. We do not allow any of our Young Learners, whether staying in residence or in Homestay, to go out in the evening, except when they join the group for organised, supervised activities, or in the event that parental consent is received.
Welcome Club
During Summer we provide a Welcome Club. Students are collected in the morning and afternoon and taken to the Welcome Club where they can start practising their English, making friends and playing games. All students are then taken to Folkestone where they are put into taxis to their host families. We can guarantee that the taxi driver will not leave until the student is inside their English home.
